Just look at the sesame seeds topping the bread.
dont you want to try it?
Next, i broke it into half. Look at the Red Bean Paste. whoa.

I'm not sure if this is sold in all SweeHeng Cake Shop's outlet.
hah, but i bought it at Fajar Shopping Centre. It's really cheap.
Any 3 kinds of bread, for $2. or any bread for $0.80 only.
Do try it, if you like sweeter paste :)
That evening, with my family, we attended the wedding of a distant relatives. The dinner was held at a restaurant next to Hong Lim Complex, at Chinatown. It's a Teochew Restaurant.

It's a very typical chinese restaurant. The location was a little 'ulu' tho.
Food was to be served after 9pm. It's usual and it's a common sight for all wedding dinners. i scanned through the menu, and found that the food listed were quite common yah? ^.-
There's a total of 10 dishes.
There were 3 kinds of chilli sauce & in my opninon, this 2 are the better ones.
I could taste vinger and garlic in the light coloured chilli sauce. yeah, i love garlics.
the darker one was actually sweet&sour chilli sauce. it's a little salty tho, not spicy. hah, still liked it.

Here's the first dish on the menu,

Clockwise from left: Fruits with salad dressing, chuka iidako, sliced octopus, teochew braised duck and ngor hiong. Center: Fried egg in a 'basket'.
I particularly like the Fruits with salad dressing. Probably because there's diced mango, diced pineapple and nata de coco & i prefer eating fruits. haha.
Next in line, Braised Shark's Fin with Crab Meat and Conpoy.

Here's the first dish on the menu,

Wedding Cold Dish Combination.
also known as the Appetizer.

I particularly like the Fruits with salad dressing. Probably because there's diced mango, diced pineapple and nata de coco & i prefer eating fruits. haha.
Next in line, Braised Shark's Fin with Crab Meat and Conpoy.

Served with generous chunks of fresh crabmeat, and shark's fin.
However, i preferred the one i previously had a Fortunate Restaurant :/ hha, i couldnt find eggwhite in this bowl of shark's fin! haha.
Here comes the poultry.
Roasted Crispy Chicken.
The Skin was to be served with special kind of salt? I prefer eating the skin w/o the salt tho. it's just too salty! haha, the skin is not too dry and definately, tasty. The Meat was Okay i thought.
Steamed Red Snapper is next.
The aromatics (ginger, scallion, chile) are easily absorbed by the fish, and you can taste it. Unfortuanately, the whole table agrees that the snapper is steamed for too long, as the fish meat was a little hard when biten.
Here comes...
Sauteed Shrimps with Special Sauce in Golden Cup.
what a long name! hah, anyway, the golden cup is the same 'basket' as the appetizer.
The sauteed shrimps were fresh. & i particularly likes the capsicum. It's not too cooked, thus you can taste the freshness of it :)
Deep Fried Yam Rings. The dish that sis was expecting from the start.
The deep fried yam was actually the shape of a basket. Served with stir-fried prawns, nuts and vegetables placed in the middle of the basket.
Veggies lovers,
Braised Mushrooms with Spinach.
haha, super common. An average tasting dish tho :)
I've always been wondering, how come noodles and stuff are always served as the last or second last dish? But it's like, standard? Any chinese restuarant you go, they will do the same thing. hah, i dont know why either..
Well, This Stewed E Fu Noodles with chives doesnt suit our likings despite looking really appealing.
Probably everyone was alrd full! and thus, we didnt finish it. Yeah, Most tables cant finish it.
I was waiting for the dessert. I've always like the desserts of every meals.

A perfect sugar rush for the sweet-toothed.
2 Bowls for me. Yam Paste aka oorr neee. hah, has always been one of my fave desserts.
and i think this is the best dish for the night. haha. It's so smooth yet thick, and i like.
Well, they shouldnt serve too much coconut milk tho.
I shall end off with a picture of my sis and i :)

Ooh you've activated "comments" or I must have been blind previously not to notice. If you like hotpot, you oughta try XiaoPing along Temple St. It's very "no frills" but its quality of ingredients are top notched. http://dancingblueseal.blogspot.com/2006/08/xiao-ping-hotpot-temple-st-singapore.html
I've actually eaten there on average at least twice a month. Recently I've graduated to the fullblown all spicy soup version. No more yuanyang for me hahaha.
